My Story
My name is Rhonda Graves. I was born and raised in the Saskatoon area of Saskatchewan, Canada. I have always enjoyed an active lifestyle, including sports (motorcycle riding and racing were my passions) and other interests such as walking, gardening, camping and crafts. In February of 1992, my life changed dramatically when I was rear-ended in a motor vehicle accident. By October 1992, I had almost recovered from my injuries when I was rear-ended once again. The injuries were more severe and my recovery was very slow. In 1994, chronic pain led me to a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia. In 1998, everything worsened when I was rear-ended by a drunk driver.
Since 1992, I have struggled with chronic pain. Walking and other ordinary tasks of daily living became extremely difficult. My quality of life diminished. I was unable to enjoy many of my usual activities and working full time became a struggle. Eventually I was limited to working part time.
Over the years, I tried various methods to relieve the constant pain. Although many of them provided short-term relief, I continued to search for a method I could use without having to schedule numerous appointments every week. I wanted a "Miracle" and that's what I got when I discovered "The Miracle Ball Method" of Muscle Release Therapy (MRT).
Muscle Release Therapy turned my life around! I am able to do so many things now that I thought I would never do again. I'm able to truly enjoy activities like gardening, walking and travelling, which I dreaded for years because I knew they would aggravate my pain levels. My use of painkillers has drastically reduced - most days I don't need any! I still have Fibromyalgia flare-ups and periods of pain - but for the most part, I am able to prevent my health issues from interfering with my life. I feel better than I have for years! And the best part is I am back on two wheels! I got myself a scooter for my 50th Birthday and love scooting about the city!
After using Muscle Release Therapy for about 5 months, I decided I wanted to learn more about it so I could share this amazing method with others. In January 2006, I travelled to Chicago, IL for Level 1 & 2 training with Elaine Petrone. In May of 2006, I travelled to Stamford, CN for Level 3 & 4 training and became the first Canadian to train and be certified by Elaine Petrone. I have continued training in small ball therapies with The Keller Method of Myofascial Release since 2008. I offered classes in Muscle Release Therapy for about 5 years (2006 - 2011) and during that time I helped hundreds of people to learn how to use small balls to relieve their pain and reduce their stress.
After experiencing such an improvement in my overall health, I began to research wellness and develop my own beliefs about healing. In 2006, I completely changed career direction, established a home-based business and have become committed to helping others to relieve pain and reduce stress. In March of 2009 I had an opportunity to start training in the Bowen Technique. This has also been a life-changing event for me. It has taken my healing to a whole new level and continues to amaze me as I help others to improve their quality of life and enjoy thier lives to the fullest.
As a Registered Social Worker, I have always been very aware of the mental and emotional components to health and wellness. Years ago when I was caught up in the chronic pain cycle, I came to realize that past emotional issues were affecting my ability to heal. I experienced for myself, the relatively quick and easy way that Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) allowed me to reprocess these barriers to wellness and I was motivated to become certified in this remarkable pyschotherapy method. Today I am very grateful that I have this training so that I can help others that are feeling blocked by unresolved emotional issues.
My quest for natural healing modalities that will help myself and others continues ... and as I travel my life journey, my business evolves to accommodate my various interests. However, there is one thing that remains constant as time passes - I become more committed to "Helping You to Help Yourself".
